The Z Street Speakeasy Band has performed for countless Gatsby, 20s theme event galas and corporate events. The band plays 20s, 30s 40s jazz and swing and can also transition into contemporary hits as the night goes on. With Zoot Suits and vintage gown, Art Deco Band Stands, BOTH male and Female vocalists, horns section, rhythm section, a song list of over 800 songs, on board DJ for breaks, tap dance routines by our female vocalist, stage and dance floor lighting, they give you more entertainment for your dollar. "There are alot of bands out there that will fly the only the band leader and vocalist in and the band leader will hire local "pick up players" to fill in. Band leader, Mark says. "That's something that I don't agree with.. When you hire my band, you get the players in my band, no pick up substitute musicians." Here are just a few of the questions that Mark gets asked when new clients inquire about hiring the band, along with his responses, which should help you make a sound decision on hiring entertainment for your private party, corporate event or charity gala. Question: Is it necessary that the band I hire carry insurance? Answer: Absolutely! Any reputable band should carry multi million dollar liability insurance, as most venues require it before the band can perform at the venue. If the band you are looking to hire can't produce a copy of their Liability insurance well before the event, they may not be allowed to perform at the venue, as most venues require it. The Z Street Speakeasy Band carries multi million dollar liability insurance. Question: Where are you located? I see other bands listed on Google that say they are in Florida, but when I contact them, they tell me they are located in another state or another Country. Answer: We are residents of Orlando Florida. We live in Orlando, and our musicians are professional musicians at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Orlando is our home base. Question: Why do some bands list themselves on Google as being located in Orlando, but they are actually in another State or Country? Sometimes, heir website doesn't say where they are located at all. It's confusing. Answer: That's a good question. Many out of state bands, as well as bands located outside of the United State may fly only the band leader into Florida, and then the bandleader will hire local "pick up musicians" (meaning musicians that aren't members of their band; many whom they may have never met or heard before) to perform at their event on the fly. This isn’t a good idea. The band should be a group of musicians that have been playing together on a continual basis. Not random players hired to perform with the band for the first time. The Z Street Speakeasy Band is a group of band members that have been working together for years. They are established team members that are an integral part of the Z Street Gatsby Band family. If we do an out of State gig, the whole band goes with us. We do not use pick up musicians. When inquiring about a band, it's good to know what City, State and Country that they are located in. It should state that clearly on their website. Question: When I was researching bands to hire, many of them wanted to charge me additional fees for stage lighting, or sound equipment. That seems unfair. Answer: You are absolutely correct. It is unfair. Be very wary of bands that charge you additional fees for sound or lighting. Reputable bands provide their own sounds and lights. This is a given. The Z Street Band provides Sound, stage lighting, dance floor lighting, and a dedicated microphone for guests for announcements. If a band tries to "upsell you on sound and lights", that is initially a junk fee. A band's responsibility is to provide the client with the full package of sound, lights, and costuming. There should be no additional fees, as the band should never charge a client for something the band is responsible for providing. However, many clients choose to use an independent sound company for a large scale event instead of our equipment, which is fine too. Large scale events may require additional AV, sound and lighting that an independent sound company would provide. The Z Street Speakeasy Band performs throughout Central Florida, from Orlando to Tampa, Sarasota, Ybor City, Palm Beach and beyond. The band prides itself on an extensive songlist, including swing and roaring twenties tunes, and being able to transition into hits from the 70's, 80's, 90's, and today. The Z Street Speakeasy Band has been performing for Gatsby and Speakeasy events, upscale Hollywood Glam events and galas as well. That was the case on June 18, when the Z Street Speakeasy Band packed the dance floor with two sets of vintage music, then transitioned into more contemporary music for the corporate event. The band can play vintage music all night long if requested, but in most cases, after the first or second set of vintage music, guests are ready to kick it up a notch. By the look of the pictures below, you can almost feel the energy from the bandstand to the dance floor. Earlier that month they performed for Gatsby theme party entertainment in St. Petersburg, Sarasota, Clearwater and Tampa. The Band is based out of Orlando, and is available from 3 to 10 pieces.
